How we work

Most agencies sell you their process. We introduce you to the people who will actually make the thing.

A swarm forms around the problem. Every swarm has a queen: one person who leads it and stays your contact from the first conversation to the last delivery. Around her are the makers the work actually needs, and you will know all their names before anything starts.

When the work ships, the swarm breaks up and everyone goes back to the kollektiv. Nothing hardens into a department that has to be fed. That is why we can be choosy about what we take on, why we plan the attention a piece of work needs before it is made rather than after, and why the work has a habit of overshooting what you asked for.

01

We choose our work.

Taking on everything would make us a staffing company with better typography.

02

Credit follows the maker.

Credits are agreed before anyone starts, and they follow the person who did the work rather than the account.

03

We keep our own practice.

Our own art is not a hobby wing. It is the gym, and it is why the commercial work does not go soft.

A typical timeline

A

Audit

Two to four weeks, written. This is Frame and Provoke: the diagnosis, the evidence, three routes worth taking, and an honest word about what not to attempt.

B

Prepare

The swarm is named. Scope, schedule, budget, who decides what, and how changes are handled, all in writing.

C

Make

Make, Prove and Produce. You get evidence every week rather than reassurance.

D

Go, pause or stop

A date in the diary to decide. Stopping is a real option and it does not cost you the audit. If it goes ahead, Compound is the part that keeps paying afterwards.
